Our History
Founded in 2001 by Trace and Beth Embry, Shepherd’s Hill Academy (SHA) began as a therapeutic residential program dedicated to helping struggling teens and their families find healing through a Christ-centered, nature-based environment.
For over 20 years, SHA provided a structured, faith-based approach to transformation, equipping young people with the tools they needed to overcome life’s challenges.
As the landscape of family needs evolved, SHA recognized the importance of empowering parents alongside their teens. In 2024, the ministry transitioned away from residential therapy to focus on Thrive Services, offering coaching, onsite counseling, and access to trusted, like-minded programs. This shift allows us to continue our mission of equipping families while ensuring they receive the support and resources that align with their faith and values.
While our approach has changed, our vision remains the same: to help teens and families thrive in today’s culture by providing faith-based guidance, practical tools, and a strong foundation in Christ.
