Hope & Help
Raising Teens is Hard—you don’t have to do it alone
It’s never easy to see your child go through difficult times. It’s even more agonizing to watch them spiral into crisis. As parents, we fight to give our children our absolute best, but when our best is outnumbered by the toxicity of outside stimuli and influence, what can be done?
Balancing these very personal pressures while searching for support can be devastating and feel altogether too much. We understand. You need to know there is hope for your family.
At Shepherd’s Hill Ministries, we provide the guidance, connections, and resources you need to bring peace back to your home. Whether through expert coaching, onsite counseling, or connecting you with trusted residential programs, we help you find the right path forward.
I encourage you to explore our website and familiarize yourself with our program and testimonials from parents who once sat where you sit now.

The Need
Parents, researchers, pediatricians, and front-line mental health providers are all saying the same thing: there is an ongoing mental health crisis among youth in America. Here's why:
-
Statistics reveal that approximately 1 in 5 adolescents have experienced a major depressive episode in the past year.¹ Suicide is the second leading cause of death in adolescents ages 10-14.²
-
US teens spend an average of 4.8 hours per day using social media. 30% spend 6 or more hours. ³
Excessive social media use is linked to a heightened risk of poor mental health outcomes, including depression, anxiety, inadequate sleep, low self-worth, and eating disorders. The risks are particularly pronounced for girls and those already grappling with mental health issues.
-
Children today spend only 4-7 minutes to unstructured outdoor play per day.⁴
Most teens spend little time outdoors, leading to increased screen time. Research shows that time in nature, even without therapy, can naturally reduce anxiety and depression. Ignoring nature deficiency in children and teens can have serious effects on their social and emotional development, potentially causing lasting harm to their mental health.
-
Many teens struggle with developing distress tolerance and resilience, leading to issues like emotional dysregulation, conflict avoidance, poor anger management, avoidant behavior, lack of problem-solving skills, difficulty recovering from setbacks, and an inability to persevere.
